As people are becomming aware there are no new MG ZS180 rads available and no std spec ones are available in the aftermarket sector.
We can offer a re-core alternative. rads will be via exchange or re-core your old one. For those not aware, the core is generally the bit that corrodes and fails or gets blocked up to the point of being u/s. By removing the original core and replacing it with a brand new one you have effectively a new rad with as new performance (usually better) and a longer service life. the only parts that are retained are the water tanks (plastic) where the input and output feeds are etc, provided these are serviceable (This only becomes an issue when the car has been subject to an impact and even then often the tanks can survive) Price £210 inc VAT plus delivery I hope to build up a stock of ready to go re-cored units in the next few weeks for exchange but we can offer the re-core of your rad from now. |

Matt what happens if the tanks are knackered then after a frontal impact? How do you recore then ???????????? Answer is you cant.
we can recore these too, a bit cheaper mind ... But the requests we have had for new radiators is because the cars have suffered a frontal impact which has rendered both cores and side tanks unuseable, so the recore option is no longer viable!! George |

George,
that is why I said that re-use of the tanks is subject their condition. Obviously if they are split then that is not an option in which case it will be a bit more expensive as there are no donor tanks to re-use. I have often seen rads recored from accident damaged cars, depends on the damage, usually the core splits and the tanks are fine, each case is different We are getting to a time when corrosion will play a part in the life of the rads in general so re-coring is a viable option. I have put a price up that we will supply a 12month guaranteed re-cored rad for, we can also supply alloy ones custom made by the same people who are supplying most of the UK based WRC teams, but you already offered one and I wanted to offer something more suitable for the everyday ZS180 driver. |

Fair comment Matt.
I do know that the place that recores for us has had troubles locating the correct cores for the zs rads... However, we have got a good few now. The ally ones are for people who dont have salvageable rads... Good to see someone else trying to keep the mg zs crew on the roads. George |

Matt, that is a fantastic price, compared to Chargers Alloy Race Item!, most folk will no doubt bite your arm off for that price.
Good Work. |

Yeah, I read Matts reply to you, but as 90% of Accident Damage will be frontal where the core is damaged then I think it is a fantastic offer.

The tank pegs are held in place by 2 brackets, so anyimpact to the core will cause the centre to snap away from the tanks!!
But hey, what would i know, I only break at least 15 zs180`s per month which have all had frontals, and not one has had a rad without the tanks broken!! George |

Certainly at dealerships I have run we both supplied re-cored radiators for accident damage repair work and where we had a huge bodyshop we used to get rads re-cored where replacements were not avaiable within a reasonable time or just no longer available.
I have a company comming back to me about having new plastic end tanks made so theroretically we could offer a brand new complete rad. The deal with this will be down to cost |

Must be getting to that Rad time of year! Done quite a few general rad replacements the past few weeks on generally older MGR stock but was surprised to get a Mk2 54 plate ZS180 in last week with a fractured rad. From the symptoms its been leaking for a while and had juts progressivley got worse.
Might be prudent for people to keep an eye on coolant levels, I know the ZS has a low coolant warning light but it seems to be very sensitive making people sometimes ignore it! (Crying Wolf is a pain on sensors!) |

I assumed the 180 radiator is different to the 120?
as i had absolutly no problem getting hold of a brand new 120 radiator for my car... If not.. then nevermind ![]()

when my mk2 zs was accident damaged the garage had everything apart from the radiator. I phoned the insurance and told them the situation and put them in touch with someone with a second hand radiator and they used them. without this my car would have been written off

Our GTE had a problem with the plastic tank splitting open which I think they all will do in time just as the thermostat housings do as its made of the same plastic. George's fix would be far more beneficial in the long term.
