I'm not saying they're cheaper than private sellers, but then you wouldn't expect that on any car. Just cheaper than other dealers. |

Not arguing with you on SMC paying 'the right price' and therefore can offer them cheaper...
However they arn't selling.... SMC presumably bought in numbers large enough to enable them to have a decent margin, and possibly have the financial clout to play the waiting game anyway, but the fact that the big boys don't drop their price, means that the price dosent drop... There is also the fact that they have so many, that should they drop the price on one, they have to take the hit on each and every one that they have so take a bigger hit on 'potential losses'. I agree that there will be a stabilising on the prices at some point, as it dosent seem a particularly weel know about car as yet amongst anyone but petrolheads, and not being a supported manufactuer eleminates a fair portion of its potential market. as I said we all have our own take on the matter ![]() Those that have one are safe in the knowledge that they get to enjoy it whenever They want.... Those that don't can only wonder and dream ![]() ![]() Nick... |

I'm guessing as the new/used cars dry up the prices will recover.

For info....
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/2004-04-MG-ZT-...QQcmdZViewItem The above ZTT260 SE in black with tinted windows (chasis 284) is on Ebay for £13,995. A brief question prompted a best price of £13,250. Keiths info on this car implies it has a few issues..... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/2004-MG-ZT-T-V...QQcmdZViewItem The above red ZTT260 SE (as recently seen sold at auction for £12,150) is chasis 305. Again - impressed they were looking for £13,250. This car looks like a good example and has low mileage. I`ve finally managed to sell my MG RV8 (!), so am on the look out for a 260, preferably in Tourer guise. I`ll be getting V8 withdrawal symptoms soon! |

Hmm auction ended only on Sunday. Winning bidder registered since 2004 making his first and only ever purchase, obviously not offered as a second chance to the next highest bidder and back up for sale within three days, I would have given any winner a bit longer than that.
Although this seller does seem to churn out a lot of cars so can probably afford to lose a few quids on one occasionally the sale of this one stinks to me

Well loved ZT260 Mk2 standard spec for sale.
The car details are as follows: X power grey with gunsmoke interior including black part leather sports seats. 18.445 miles on the clock, one owner from new, immaculate condition. Other extras include: rear electric windows, CD Autochanger, Xenon light pack including washers The car is located in Rugby and is in very good order. If you are interested e-mail me on [email protected] Asking price is £11,000 ono. The owner died recently and its the family selling the car. Wants it to go to an enthusiast who will look after it. ![]()

Yes thats another potentail "odd ball" one they had a silver one there when I went to look at the resprayed estate.
At the time it was "sold" and was being put through PDI if it is the same one then I guess the new owner did not complete the deal, it is definately a MK1 with MK2 bumpers I wonder where it has been to turn up on an 06 plate We need someone to get the last three digits of the Vin number to see where in the production cycle it fits

![]() I must admit that I hadn't picked up on the dash - it is a bit of an oddball then, presumably hence the price. I might just give them a call later to try and get some history. TBH I was a bit alarmed as if the provenance was good it suggests theres more downside in prices than I like... |

You have to remember this car is probably around 3 years old in reality and it is definately a MK1 car...
Cars that have very low mileages are sometimes more trouble than ones that have been used regularly and have higher mileages. ![]() |

Hopefully Nic won't mind me transplanting some of his knowledge from over there to over here - this is what I found he'd written about 002....are you sure it's 002..?
This was written several months ago. "It would appear that 002 has turned up down south in Buckinghamshire and this car is white and has a cable operated clutch. What concerns me about 002 is the fact that it is white and all of the cars that ended up being painted white were usually subject to a rather unpleasant start to life as they didn't have any sealant on them and had probably done 1000 laps of the Belgium PAVe road up at MIRA in Nuneaton doing durability work. 1000 laps doesn't sound much when the track is only just over a mile long, however, 1 lap is equal to 100 miles of suspension work, so 1000 laps equal 100,000 miles. The track dishes out so much abuse that the body shell, chassis, trim, well to be fair the whole car is put under immense stress to make sure that they don't fall apart after the first few miles of ownership. Things tend to crack, break, bend or melt on the PAVe. Trucks have to go through a water splash to cool off every two laps and you have to wear a neck brace for prolonged exposure. I really hope that the car lasts but in reality, it should be a 3 x 3 cube of steel somewhere safe and off public roads." Whether this 'silver' one is the same car....I dunno...but if it is, the above makes for interesting reading.... Chris |

It has an RX06 plate, so that's probably consistent with an SMC or that region registration?

If you look at the photo of the interior, it certainly seems to have the little aircon switch in the place of the V8 badge and the 7,000 rpm redline marking of a 190 dash, which would be consistent with it being 002, even if they have put the right gearstick gaiter on, unlike 003 and 007.

OK, had another call. It is number 2, the salesman doesn't think that it's been resprayed and they've replaced the tv/satnav with a cdplayer as the former didn't work and they couldn't find a replacement. Also they've fixed a faulty sunroof motor. The car has one previous keeper, in surrey area probably (souunds similar to bucks to me oop north
![]() He was quite open about the mix for Mk1 and Mk2, but didn't have any history on the car and certainly didn't say that it had been a development vehicle. It'll be interesting to see what anyone thinks if they go to see it. |

I had also called about this on Monday. Definateley 002 and reckon a development car. Salesman tried to defend the car by saying it was a bargain for £12k, personally I wouldn't of even paid as much as £10k. |

![]() Given the unfinished bits and the possible pave history I wouldn't want to buy it or recommend it. I suppose a collector might like to have 002 in his/her collection (assuming 001 is now 3foot cubed) |
