What wins between a ZS180 and a 600Ti from a rolling start 20mph till top speed?

600Ti 1355 KGs [email protected] wheels 225 lbf torque

I think the greater spread of torque from the KV6 would make this one pretty close. Can't decide.

Beat
2 litre 16v calibra. (The one that every one dissed at Thruxton)
Saxo VTS
BMW 325i
Mazda MX6

Lost
EVO 6
Cosworth escort

I gave up quite early on the last 2, I just wanted to see what the power difference was. I know when Im out classed.

Well Kev, I know the answer to this one because I was there when you did this.

As for my scalps, please consider I live in Paris and they like the Diesel over here.
Mind you, they like to try there luck anyway.

Ferrari 350 (off the lights in a traffic jam in Paris)
Porsche 911 Turbo (off the lights in a traffic jam in Paris)
Audi TTís both variants
Golf GTIís
R5GTTís
Peugeot
Renaults
Mercís
BMW (they are a ****** pain in the bumper, you waist them they catch you up and still insist on more punishment Ďusually X5ís)
MG Zís (way to much respect for each other, like shooting at your own troops)
Ford (sometimes its nice to humiliate people because Iíve had a bad day)
Loads of different motorbikes, there is a nice stretch of dual carriageway on my way home, both sides of it are protected with concrete barriers very long sweeping flat out in 4th right hander then it straightens for about 400 meters and flat out in 3rd left to right S bend change up to 4th flat out on exit. Not one of the bikes Iíve raced on this stretch has beat me yet, although on the exit they do pass me. (NOTE, I only do this in the very late hours on my way home from Paris when there are no other cars on the road).

I have played with a couple of cossies when in my espace (V6 2.9 145bhp), lost to one, the other blew his engine. I also beat a BMW B30 Alpina from a set of lights, 1/4 through a roundabout and another 1/4 to a drop in speed limit to 50 mph where I backed of to 50, he came flying past.

The best fun I have had in my MG Maestro 2.0i (currently waiting a T16 conversion, George call me please as your mailbox is full and you are never there when I call) was an EVO7 over about 10 miles of high speed dual carrageway with a number of roundabouts and traffic. He was much faster but kept being baulked by other cars and his inability to plan ahead, at one point I actully pulled past him in the inside lane. By the end of it he was 3 cars in front and pulled into a shop forecourt.

I should add I beat a Lotus Eliese over a 15 mile run once, he cut me up on a roundabout, he almost drove into a petrol station off another, he gave up after trying to mount a kerb.

Integra Type R's are quick cars. I was going to get one but the ZS was £1000 less to insure (amazing - just 2 insurance groups difference ). 0-60 in something like 6.6 seconds, 100 in about 16.5 i think. Not a million miles from the pace of a ZS, but I'd really expect the Integra to be quicker.

Some of the Tegs at the G force day were putting out the same power or less than the ZS180's there. The modded one's were a lot more powerfull though but had lots spent on em.The Zeds killed em on Torque
Theres on local Teg who ive had numerous run- in's with and although it pulls a bit in the low gears i managed to do it in 4th the other week but it could be that he's engines shagged or he bottled it-who knows!
The one thing i do know is that Clio 172's are **** slow

14.6 second 1/4 mile with the only modifications being a de-cat pipe and an open K&N induction kit. I don't think my nice new blue canal boat will touch that 172's seem to vary in power output, much like the ZS180's. My first 172 was about 8bhp down on other standard cars, but my most recent one was much stronger. Always worth a try against a 172 as it might be one of the bad ones.

The extra torque in the ZS is really pleasant, i must say, but I am missing the top end power from the 172 Never seems much point in going over 4500rpm or so in the ZS. I'm trawling through the forum to see who and what can give it more go above 4000rpm.

I still can't see a ZS touching an Integra, but you never know how much the other guy is giving it i suppose.

"14.6 second 1/4 mile"

If that was at York then it dont count as York's always quicker than Pod

Yes, at York. But I know people who've run the same times at both venues so, erm...

Will probably take the ZS to York on Easter Monday and see what it can do. Will be very suprised if it manages any better than 15.4. Have you run your MG at the Pod then? What times did you get and was the car modified in any way?

It really is a cracking car this ZS180, but it definitely needs some more horses. What are the best options for more top end power (am searching the forum, but can't find much really solid information apart from 180's sometimes run down on power)?

The best ive ever got was 14.8 @ pod last october with the seats all out and on a wet track in january 15.7 so a loaded ZS sounds right at about 15.4
No ones really gone for it in a big way with modifying their 180's yet but i think that will all change soon.
The Air filters definately gives more torque which helps the acelleration but its debatable wether they increase Peak BHP.
I think manifolds & 270 cams are the way to go if they are set up propely and would push the ZS over the 200bhp barrier.
As for ZS180's being down on power i'd say thats been a little exaggerated on this forum.
btw, have you ever met a bloke called Craggy @ York????

Before i ran the most recent 172 i was worried about it being another **** one, so i was going to get him to run it. Fortunately i got a decent time and my gearboxed was saved from a Craggy style mauling.

had a do wiv a scooby turbo last nite, i stood no chance, coming off a roundabout onto a dual carriageway, i was in 3rd expecting to pull into the left hand lane behind another car while he flew passed in the right, but he stuck behind me as if to let me pass the car in front so the open road was ours for the racing. i duly obliged, pulled into the right lane and stuck my foot down, tho didnt down shift, stayed in 3rd. i should really have dropped to 2nd and really thrashed it, but i still hit 6000 in 3rd and 4th. as i pulled back into left hand lane i was expecting him to fly passed which to my amazement wasnt the case, but it definately was considerably quicker than me, just not perhaps as much as i had thought (bearing in mind i have test driven a couple of these an know them to be much quicker). i took my foot off the gas when silly speeds were being achieved where this guy kept on goin and mustve been 110-120 by the end of the road. also bear in mind mine has had RSM stage 1 tuning (exhaust, induction, remap) and should be at 210ish bhp. i have seen the scooby in question around and i reckon its also had a new zorst and possibly other mods under the bonnet. its commonly known that the standard twin pipe scooby zorst restricts flow and a upgrade of this alone can free upto 30bhp.
also had a MR2 turbo up my rear a couple of days back, no chance of a head to head as on a single lane, but was obvious he would more than keep up, i pulled away then his turbo would kick in and he'd soon be hangin off my bumper again.
lets all hope (most probably in vain) that the new top of range ZS has RWD and 250bhp, nothing else will b able to compete wiv these aforementioned cars, and many more that can be found for similar to ZS prices.

Itís been said before and Iím sure it will be said again, the ZS180 is a very under estimated car, more so when a little bit of induction work has been done.
Iím not so surprised that the Subaru didnít fly past you, ok I admit it has a lot more power and can adequately put this down on the road but it wonít leave the ZS for dead.
Now a ZS running 250bhp could be a very different story, but I guess we will have to wait and see.
Owners with cars that produce more power than the ZS180 have been a little surprised on more than one occasion, they canít out run it with at much ease as they would of hoped, those menacing twin lights seem to stay in there rear view mirror a lot longer than they feel comfortable with.

Not the quickest on the block but no way the slowest.

The ZS also didnt pull as cleanly away from a vectra sri as i wouldve liked albeit in 4th and 5th gears. still, wiv the tuning ive had, i wouldve liked a bit more dominance. if only the ZS hadnt depreciated and continues to depreciate so much, id be swapping it for the scooby turbo ('classic') tommorow. thats not to take anything away from the ZS 180 (210) its a damn fine car, just underpowered, even at 210. and to make it any quicker still is gonna cost £1000+ and is just gonna spin them front wheels when trying to put that sort of power down.
