I am sure that we can cope with the gradual failure due to a leak. it is the sudden failure without warning that is what I want to avoid.

For those of you interested in an upgrade kit, please be aware that the bracket will be produced from steel, then zinc plated or possibly, if I can find a good deal, powder coated.
The aluminium prototype was knocked up from material I had lying around.

Progress to report.
10 fluid tanks made. This tank fits near the coolant expansion tank using a longer screw, bracket and spacer.

sheddist, when the system has been completed and you are selling the "product" will you want to fit them or will you provide an "Idiots Guide" for those of us that can do the work ourselves?

Also I want the "kit" now... can't wait any longer the clutch is too high! lol

one word- WOW.

I too have had the clutch system go at 20,000 miles.
to be fair, the dealer did it under warranty while I waited- in 45 minutes !!, but this is a fer better engineered solution, and one for me to seriously consider purchasing if only to keep to one side WHEN mine fails again (gearchanges are already sometimes notchy as though clutch isnt disengaging properly).
Are the kits a group buy or available individually ?

Kits will include everything you need to do the job. Cylinders, pipes, fasteners, brackets etc.

I am hoping to have them available mid-end August. Most of the parts I need to make are made. Just need to check the MK2 bracket works OK before I order a quantity to be laser cut. That work will be done early August. That will be the one fitted for free! as it will also be used for the photos needed for the instructions.

I am putting together 12 kits to start with.

Just a thought, you may have looked into it anyway.
a lot of the suppliers of escort rally bits do various master and slave cylinders, and also neat reservoirs, as generally they operate a 2 master cylinder brake set up and hydraulic clutch. Ive a classic ford at home with quite a few ads in if you want me to get some info to you.

An early up-taker might be a more accurate description!

Great bit of kit too! , and to quote the man who came up with the idea and bit's too fit it!- "it looks like it grew there!"

Never a truer word spoken aswell- it really could be an o.e fitment job!

I kinda get the feeling these kit's will sell like hot cakes!

But then again- soo they should!- Quality engineering from a top bloke! beer2

This could well be a "must have"! mod for ALL 180 owners soon enough!

No mate- the gear changes are no better than with the old setup!- Although having said that- my gearchange has improved somewhat since i swapped out the o.e g/box oil for some MTF fully synth amsoil stuff from opie oils!

My g.box was a bit of a pig at times to use- but it's deffinitley better since swapping the oil for this stuff!

What this new setup has done- is given me a sense of re-assurance now- that i'm not going to get stranded somewhere with busted hydraulics- due to the crappy plastic cylinders of the old system failing!!

It's also dropped the height of the clutch pedal- so all three pedals are in-line with one another at the same height now!

It's ironic really though- when my old system was removed- we found signs of an impending failure on the slave cyl!- so it looks like we caught it just in the knick of time! (signs of slight fluid loss on the slave cyl! !)

Looks like ya got in their just in time.I have to say that when I did my box oil(standard MTF94)it realy improved things.
I'llbe glad when I have a clutch that isn't higher than a beatle in the 60's I must admit.
I look forward to getting this kit, with slight paranoia of failue before It's available

Shroon
P.S

When fitted is it just a case of bleeding the fluid through the system to get up & runing?

Have we got any more news on when they'll be available?

Also Sheddist I am in Rugby so not far from you and might be able to do something if you wanted to do another test fitting. Obviously I'd pay for the bits...

i know this might be stating the obvious- but the kit fitted to my car -was done in part to get a final spec for the brackets that will be made up- afaik- there should'nt be any further need for test fittings of the kits- they should be ready to assemble n fit (when recieved!)- as soon as the brackets are made!

Mine is working VREY well, and it really does look like an o.e fitment- it's that good!

Nigel!- i can see you end up making more than 12 of these kit's!!!
