Default MGR "XPower Hoops" Group Buy - One Off.

MGR has kindly offerred 20% discount as a one-off on the XPower Hoops.

The hoops are now "coloured" or "stainless". Plus there is a new "Tonneau" and "Windstop" to compliment.

Quote from MGR, "The Xpower Safety Roll hops sit behind the headrests giving the model a true sports car look with proven safety. the Hoops have undergone a rigerous programme of safety trials that include the industry standard "crush test" normally used for roofed saloons. this is a genuine MGR Approved Accessory from the MGR parts range, to ensure its authenticity and it has MGR engineering approval, it will come with a uniquely numbered MGR Hologram, which is fitted to the right side of the bar."

Part# DSD000020 Tonneau 160 + VAT (recommended)
Part# DSD000030PMA Windstop 196 + VAT (recommended)

Hoop colours - Solar red - BRG - LMG - TB - XPG - Anth 284.34 + VAT (recommended)

Part# VUB003300MBE Stainless Steel Hoops 319.06 + VAT (recommended)

Anyone up for this?

Thierry - no.

Just may have to pay for carriage, I can get them to Amsterdam Airport for free though (but I doubt that is of no use).

I know the regulars will have seen this, so I guess the answer is no.

Thierry will try and see what price I can get. Which colour/SS would you like?

If you fit these roll hoops then you cannot fit the hood boot cover, and MG have said the hood cover must be fitted, if not then the roof can be damaged, have they changed their mind?

I like the MS boxster bars better, and you can still fit the roof cover.any chance of a group buy on this one?

Urban see other thread - and the gallery. MGR have introduced a tonneau fo these hoops.

Interestingly some TF models don't come with them anyway.

Easy fix to get them modded anyway.

If you want Mikes hoops why not ask and start a new thread!

MG no longer supply these with new cars. Can't say that I've noticed any 'flapping' of the roof when driving with it down.

@Jerry

At the moment I have some heated washer jets on command at my local dealer. Normally they should arrive end of this week. When I'll collect them, I'll ask for the XPower Roll Hoops. I want to know if they are available over here in Luxembourg and at which price. Until now I haven't seen any advert for them over here. Depending on the outcome of this, I'll or I won't order a SS one at your bulk buy.

Cheers...

Hmmm, Interesting.

Has anyone come up with a windstop to work in conjunction with these hoops yet? or are we going to finish up with a pair of fishnet stockings for them like the B*W boys?

The windstop is on the faxed/scanned picture. Yep resorting to mesh, but then again what's wrong with it.

I once saw one getting sold on ebay. It was made out of Makrolon (sort of perplex) and fixed in.between the 2 hoops. BTW it was a custom fit one.
Besides that you could always use the one from MGR for these hoops.

Nothing wrong with metal mesh used by MGR, I just really don't like the ones that the B*W's use, i.e. looks like a stocking over the hoops to hold in place with a fishnet between, just looks like a really bad cheap DIY job IMHO.

But you cannot fold it away when not needed/wanted.

Phil,

Some very good points. I still prefer the Robust look of the Xpower ones. I tried to get a better picture of the windstop, but failed I'm afraid. Horses for courses though.

That being the case then this horse will have to pass.

Don't get me wrong guys, I like the look of these hoops, and if my F was just a summer/weekend car I would be up for this. But i like/need the glass winstop too much and the SO would not let me get rid of it now!!!

Excellet price Jerry. Could you please check what secured p&p to the Grand-Duchy of Luxembourg would cost Thierry and myself. Maybe you could even send both together.

Don't you have any quote for the windstop?

Thanks.

Guys (Thierry and Pascal).

I'm sure the costs could be 50 to transport to Luxembourg (one package). Difficult without the bars to price.

I will order 3 Hoop sets in Stainless.

Windstop if required.

If you are both happy let me know. As for money, I will send you bank acct details to transfer cash to.

If you could give me/us the price for the windstop/mesh, I will probably order that one too.

Just to make sure :
- It does fit the F ?
- may I advertise this post/discount ?

The Bars on the MG communication says F and TF Thierry.

Can't see what is wrong with advertising them.

Until I definitely know you want them, I'll order one set and a stop for us.

Thanks Jerry. Can't wait to get them. It's a bit like Christmas.

First thing I'll do after fitting it, is driving to my dealer's in Belgium, and asking what he's thinking about it. I doubt, that, outside of England, dealers have been made aware of this accessory by MG-R. As I said some time ago, I didn't see in any official MG-R documents coming from MG-Rover Belgium a single line about thes Roll Hoops.

If you have any figures about p&p costs, keep me and T informed, so we can transfer the money.

Cheers...

i fitted saftety device hoops some time ago and thought they were the best out, but after having to pay a lot of extra time and money to have them removed for the simplest under cover work i decided to see if there was a better one more suitable for my purpose .
criteria was safety and build quality strength....harness fitting compatability..ease of access to engine...looks ..price

safty devices lost out on.. build quality (on poor fitting only) and no engine access
mg lost out on question of design ( the foward sloping of the hoops may possibly compromise structure in a rollover, only my opinion)..no engine access...no apparent harness fitting..terrible looks ( again personal opinion)

mike s won on... strenth and build quality( quality of materials and install design).. new harness brackets give extra overall structural integrity...full engine access....looks good..price was acceptable

only an opinion( but its all mine)

TF160sa - welcome.

Both Pascal and Thierry are "overseas" as yet we don't know the cost of transportation. I await the package and then I'll get a price (fortunately we may be able to send these 2 together).

I'm sure they can be sent for a price?

So we still have:

Jerry, Pascal and Thierry and OUR HOOPS are ordered!

Windstop now in the gallery - will get a better photo.

The retail price is 196 + vat, but with 20% discount comes to 184.24.+VAT

Suggest we hold off the Windstop order - until we can see it fitted to a car!

As far as I am concerned, I like it.It's the price that bothers me.

I think I can have similar item handcrafted by the guy who would modify the tonneau cover for even a better price.

Hello Jerry,

Thanks for the quick service.
I've talked with Thierry, and our two Hoops will be delivered at his place. So if possible, you can post them together.

I've also seen the pictures of the Windstop. I personally like it. But it seems that the windstop and the tonneau cover are one single item. Could you confirm this, or am I completely wrong.

Cheers...

Pascal,

I need to confirm that the stop/tonneau are one item - but I think you are right.

My plan is to get the 3 - HOOPS delivered. If time permits get mine fitted and picTured with stop and then you can decide on "Stage 2".
