He even offered me a brew! Anyway, Jason is definitely driving a 2002 (Ex Atomic Kitten) MGZS - the chassis being one that was updated to 2003 spec and used as a spare last year. The news was not actually supposed to be released yet, but it got out, and everyone now knows!! Jason has got a really good deal with the support for his BTCC campaign in 2004, so do not be surprised to see him up near the front with the works entry cars. With regard to sponsorship - Jason was very enthusiastic about the forum having some sort of representation on the car. I explained to him what we are all about, and gave him a flyer. He explained to me that they are currently splitting the car up into wings, doors, bumpers etc, and selling sponsorship that way. As a rough guide, although this is very much an estimate, Jason was suggesting about £10,000 but this would be to cover a complete bumper. This would include use of all corporate hospitality facilities, paddock access etc. I explained that we wouldn't be looking at anything like that, and more like £1,000! He was still very confident that we would easily be able to sort something, and even at that amount, we would still have access to some of the perks of sponsoring the team! So, the situation is this. We need to decide how much we are prepared to put into this, and then I'll give Jason a ring. He will then see what they can do, and we'll take it from there. Bottom line is that this is DEFINITELY a go-er, if we want to pursue it. Incidentally, Having discussed the coming season with Jason, I have now become involved with seeking major sponsorship of his MG BTCC car as well (more in the £15,000-£20,000 upwards bracket) if anyone has a company, or knows of a company interested in sponsoring this car on a larger scale, please send me a PM. ![]() Paul |

Paul - a fantastic opportunity. I know 1,000GBP is achievable.
Maybe 2,000 at a real push. If we are getting something in return then maybe 20GBP is an absolute minimum. Maybe 30 to 40??? Let's make a decision. Will phone WSR and see what they say first. I will let all know tomorrow night and take it from there. |

The facilities are worth it in my opinion. For £1,000 - £2,000 we may not be wined and dined at every race, but we will certainly have full access on occasion (at least 2 or 3 of us at each meeting) to the pit garage/lane during the racing/qualifying etc. I think, from what Jason said, there may be opportunity to take advantage of other facilities too.
I think that if we put £30 each in, we should do this no problem. Even if we got just the 24 people who gave the nod last time to put in the £30 - that would be three quarters of the way there! I was really pleased with how Jason responded to what I was suggesting, and he is a genuinely nice bloke! He fits right in with the whole MG 'thing!' ![]() Paul

Thats great news Paul... I was gonna raise some questions regarding the whole sponsership thing, but you've answered most of them there.
I'd still be willing to make a contribution to Jason and his team. The only other question, those people who go to the BTCC races and DONT contribute, they obviously wont have access to whatever forms of hospitality are offered to those paying members? |

Guy
I think the best bet is to see how much interest this thread generates over the next few days and then take it from there. If it looks like we are going to have a decent contribution, I'll go back to Jason and explain how much we've got, and he'll tell me what they can offer. When everything is agreed, and all parties are happy, then I guess if everyone sends a cheque to one person (be it me or someone else), and they can sort this out with Jason and get us represented on the 2004 BTCC racer!! Sound exciting!! Jerry - is it worth spreading the word about this more widely on the forum? Maybe as an announcement? I don't know! I'll add a link to my signature for now anyway! Paul

I'm up for £30. Where do I sign? (It would be nice to see behind the scenes when he's at my local (Brands) in May or August. Well worth the money).
Now people of the Forum, here me speak: "You are one of over 2,000 members of a fantastic free site. I firmly believe that if each and every one of you put in what you could (those who don't have money to throw around, even a tenner would be great, for those who can afford more then £30 or upwards is fantastic). 2,000 members, average donation, say £20.00 = £4,000.00!!! The money would then be used two fold - support an MG in the BTCC and to support this Forum. To run this forum on a no profit basis costs money. I suggest that money left over could be used to make sure this very site you view continues to function. Without support this Forum could close. We don't want that, do we?" There you go, end of my preaching.

OK, we need to start a list of who will contribute, and a firm commitment of how much they'll give:
I'll start (included Mr Zedman as also committed to £30 above) Yellowtrophy - £30.00 Jerryzedman - £30.00

Perhaps, in conjunction with Jason, a 'reward' in exchange for a contribution could be offered on a scale, so the more you contribute, the more you get?
You might get more donations this way. Maybe.... £250 + Pitlane access every race, maybe a couple of meals across the season in the hospitiality suite, signed cap or similar. £150 Pitlane access for 5 races, and a 1 meal in the hospitality suite, cap. £100 Pitlane access for 2 races and a meal in the hospitality suite for one race. £50 Pitlane access to 2 races. £25 Pitlane access to 1 race.

Paul,
Not heard from WSR so lets go with it. There has to be rules, in that only those that contribute are allowed ANY hospitality! We then need to get Jason or one of us to issue passes so only those are allowed any hospiatlity. Or something like Joe suggests - maybe difficult to administer though. If you want we could set up a Paypal account for this (loose 4% in any transaction though). Maybe worth a brief discussion on the telling bone about this Paul. |
