Default MG Back At Lemans in 2012...

Yup, I'm pretty sure this is an exclusive at the moment - you heard it here first!

MG as a company will be back at Lemans next year. They're becoming a major sponsor of MG Lola #6 & rlr motorsport.

Details other than that are rather thin at the moment, but MG will be back at Lemans next year.

The livery of the car may change, but no details were forthcoming about whether it would be the XPower name & branding or something new.

The team will be racing next week at Imola, aparently its on Eurosport - I feel a new form of motorsport will become a favourite now!

I have to admit, I've never really followed the Lemans series at all, but its about time I started to I think

I'll hopefully be doing a feature on the team at the Silverstone race for XPF

Wow!
I remember putting Ceefax on at the end if the 2003 season and seeing MG had pulled out of the BTCC. Never thought I'd see a factory MG team again.
BTCC next

This sounds good and a BTCC return would be even better.

Well, its not quite a factory team, but a major sponsorship. Pretty much what it would be if WSR chose to run MG6s in the BTCC.

This is indeed great news and why I have posted on here after over 3 years - that must be some sort of record.
Lets's hope the sponsorship does indeed move onto a full works programme. The ex RML car will not be eligible next season so RLR will need a new car anyway.

Roll on Silverstone!!

Here is a link to the teams press release
HERE
it's a shame they got the details wrong the works team was 2001 & 2 with RML starting in 2004 and then going on to win LMP2 in 2005 & 6, as far as I know they had very little support from MG!!

Looks like they got these details wrong too . . . .

"Iconic British car manufacturer MG Motor UK"

Should read . . .

"Chinese car manufacturer MG Motor UK"

Welcome back Nobby, I have not been around much either. I think they have done the right thing at the right time as I can see F1 figures falling thanks to sky and this series getting more support.

Default Re: MG Back At Lemans in 2012...

It's all row-locks.

MG should have supported RML and not this outfit. RML is a professional raceteam that would have done the best for MG (Mike Newton afterall is an MG nut).

This is an ex RML (AD) car and embarrassingly in the same same colour scheme as RML.

I wish it well - but it's not a British car anymore it's Chinese money sponsoring a LOLA!

I can't see MG carrying on in any motorsport now they have dropped the 6.
