Hi guys,
I absolutely hate those stupid "spacesaver" spare wheels. They aren't spare wheels at all and entirely useless. So I want to get myself a proper spare just incase (as I do a lot of miles I don't want to end up having to find some local tyre shop miles from home) But what are these alloys called (Had a look online) and does anyone know where I might get another? ![]() All the best, Alex |

I think they are Hairpins, 16" ? Give RoverBreakers a call . . . or check ebay.

I agree TCB, it would do, but all the previous MG's I've had (TF's) have come with a full size matching alloy as a spare and it just seemed right, must have been a dealer thing though I guess, the ZS is the first one I've bought second hand (after loosing 10k in 2 years on my last new one)
I'll see if I can pick up a full set perhaps and whack some winter tyres on, keep one of those in the boot, might be an idea. Alex |

Nor me, I've only had to use it once though. I can see how it could be a real PITA though . . . imagine I was up at Knockhill during a BTCC weekend . . . that would be very inconvenient.

I live in Brighton but spend a lot of my time travelling for meetings, on average I do about 1,200 miles a week depending on what I'm working on at the time.
A couple of weeks ago I was in my old car and 470 miles from home at 4:30 in the morning when I had a blowout. Thankfully I had a proper wheel in the boot but if it had been a spacesaver not only would I probably have missed my meeting that morning, I would not have got home that day most likely by the time I'd re-picked up my schedule. Spacesavers and compressors are only useful if you're 40 miles from home, during garage opening hours and got time to spare. |
