Default MGs-on-Track, Silverstone GP

Bookings have opened for Monday 22nd March.

A full day on the Bridge GP circuit, the original Gp circuit

To book into the MG sessions go here,
http://www.mgs-on-track.com/events/8...2010-03-22.htm

We are also running a mixed marque's session,
It is open to anyone registered on the website or on our mailing list with a compatible car - typically Triumph, Austin Healey, Mini, Lotus, MX5 etc.

Go here,
http://www.mgs-on-track.com/events/9...2010-03-22.htm

There is a problem with links above, the page comes up with a "Technical issue" on the left of the page is the event list. Click on the "Event information" for the session you want to book and the page comes up. Sorry for the inconvenience

Martin.

Come on all you track day heros and town centre racers lets see what you are really capable of!

MGOT events are very very well run and well worth doing if you are a total novice or experinced old timer.

I would advise any driver to get some instruction too, the track guys at Silverstone are the best of the best (just like the rally guys!) so you will learn more in 5 mins than 50 years of driving on the road!

Anyone needing a helmet, I do have some MG Chernobly green open face helmets left to move on at £30 each, need to check quantities in sizes but there are small, medium and large. Some have a few paint chips (only surface paint) never dropped, always worn with liners so no sweaty marks. They have had intercoms fitted (now removed) so a couple of boom mounting holes and some of ear padding removed under lining. From memory these also have the MSA sticker on so suitable for competition use.

Thanks for the plug Matt, I wonder can we develop into MGs-on-Stage? I don't mean the Old Vic variety either, although I have heard it said we have some old Queens amongst us.

On the helmet front Silverstones T&C's that we sign up to state helmets that comply with MSA blue book rules for 2009, so includes BS6658 - 85 Type A, which has been withdrawn from this years reg's.

It is a real pain, because all other circuits including MSV, now just state "a suitable helmet" for track days.

The helmet regs have become a big mess with International standards conflicting with what the FIA will accept and MSA just are unsure!

We will ensure all the helmets have the correct MSA sticker on. We can get the Silverstone Scurtineer to check them out and sticker if required.

MGs on Stage is a nice idea but I think its fraught with too many problems! You would need proper rally cars and then you might as well just do a rally!

Years of sitting next to customers on rally experince days tells me if they were in their own cars it would be carnage! This Sun was working at SS and it was very icy, but that does not seem to sink in with 99% of the driving public! Even when its colour coded, grip is on gravel (brown) and ice is big white puddle shaped bits, they still launch car across it with all the skill of a turnip. I had one guy rip rear wheel of a Fiesta by breaking rear stub axle, slid into frozen mud bank, Fords are very weak on these parts but they are not designed to take that sort of abuse!

If anyone wanted to do some high speed driving in their own cars on gravel I can organise it but I would not be sitting next to them! I like some secondary controls and a nice big roll cage ;-))

Yes they are Matt, they have warned us there will still be some team trucks around the paddock in the morning and the place might not be as spick and span as they would like, but the garages should all be clear for us to use.

Hi Dave,

Down to 11 places left now, but it you don't get booked before they all go,
e-mail Joe Phillips our day manager with a contact number if you want to go on the reserve list. His address is on our home page.

Again I'm diso, because work commitments mean I can't get to Rockingham either. I've only ever been there once, not for a track day though, in my RS days they held a Ford Fair there many moons ago, so was hoping to do this one, but hey-ho, he who pays the piper and all that bol****s.

But I will be out at the first Combe day, I just love the place such a friendly bunch and atmosphere there. So hope to meet you then.

Do they ever organize a trackday in belgium, france,...?
the rover 200 turbo club once came to croix en ternois. Lotusclub goes to ecuyers, folembray,... (they have discount on the shuttle for their members)

I want to drive on silverstone once, but I think it's not easy to do it in one day.

Hi,
I'm afraid we don't, we have looked into it, France, but feel the costs would be prohibative for our members.

Lotus on Track, do run several days in Europe, at least once a month, but they are a commercial business, also Loti owners are a rich bunch. We are branch of the MG Car Club, it is entirely voluntary run by a committee, we therefors run our events virtually at cost and do not generate profits as such. This does mean that to cover our costs we have to sell out every event, if we don't we make a loss. Hence the reason we are not prepapred to take the risk in booking a european track day.

Have I got the right page - MGOT and not one MG attending if I'm not mistaken.

I fully understand, but for me it would be a lot easyer if MGOT comes to europe then I have to come to England
But one day I will...
Maybe oulton park, or a circuit not to far from the channel

I doubt whether the supercharged ZS (ex-Ross) will be ready by then. I've got the forged pistons on order but they will still be a couple of weeks plus shipping from the States, then they have to be fitted, so in reality it will be April before I get it on track....looking forward to it though..
